PONY CAMP ~ SUMMER 2010

NOVEMBER 26, 2010 ~ DROP AND SHOP

SUMMER CAMP DETAILS!!

We will start camp with a few barn chores - finishing the AM feeding for the horses & sweeping the aisleways. We will then groom and tack-up our ponies/horses.

The first group of kids will ride, learning riding basics like stopping, steering and getting your horse to move forward.

We will then take a break for snack and a fun craft project - during which time our horses will rest up for the second group of kids - who will then ride.

While each group is riding the other group will be learning basic horsemanship -

parts of the horse, caring for horses and cleaning horses stalls :-)

When the horses/ponies have been un-tacked, groomed and turned out and the barn is tidy, we will then have lunch (brought from home) and play games, hike through the woods or go on a hay ride while we wait for parents!

Children who have the opportunity to ride a horse, will often continue their equine adventures. Learning to ride and care for horses can provide individuals with confidence,

growth and compassion.
