Fasolt, 16.3 h Holsteiner stallion by Farnese. The head of the Holsteiner Verband felt he was the ideal type of stallion to impart classic Holsteiner type and abilities when crossed on the Thoroughbred mare base that existed in this country. Dr. Rossow’s book on Holsteiner stallions describes Fasolt as “tall, (an) important sire of old Holsteiner type. Expressive face set on a rather short, thick neck. Smooth topline. Rather straight shoulder. Nicely shaped croup. Correct, solid legs and feet. Good gaits, somewhat lacking in impulsion. Good temperament."
He was the older, classic type with big bones and great substance—although with shorter legs. It was for this reason that Jung and the Verband thought he would be so useful as a “reverse improvement sire” on the finer-boned Thoroughbred mares.

Franat has the distinction of being the most purebred Holsteiner stallion standing in the US, as the F-line carries the highest percentage of pure Holsteiner blood in existence today. The F-line traces back to the foundation stallions: Achill and Ethelbert. The Achill line is the last line that traces directly back to the three Yorkshire foundation sires.
